About This Watch
The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Chronograph houses the impressive in-house caliber 5200, a column-wheel chronograph movement finished to Geneva Seal standards. The vertical clutch mechanism ensures smooth start-stop operation without the hand-jump that can plague horizontal clutch chronographs, while the column wheel provides a superior tactile feel to the pushers. At 42.5mm, it is slightly larger than the time-only Overseas to accommodate the additional sub-dials: a 30-minute counter at 3 o'clock, a 12-hour counter at 6 o'clock, and running seconds at 9 o'clock. The blue gradient dial transitions from a deeper navy at the center to a lighter tone at the periphery, adding visual depth that photographs cannot fully capture. The date window sits between 4 and 5 o'clock, integrated discreetly into the layout. Through the sapphire caseback, the beautifully decorated movement displays hand-applied Côtes de Genève, polished bevels, and a 22-karat gold oscillating weight. The Overseas Chronograph demonstrates that a sports chronograph can achieve the same level of haute horlogerie finishing traditionally reserved for dress watches.
